Hi all,

As you may know already, I have 2 pairs of heels (knock off Litas and a pair of Breckelles Brina-21 peep toe) however, I am interested in getting a pair of wedges. (Breckelles Valery-11)  My question would be; should I expand my not-so collection. Eventually I want to have close to one of each heel type, ie: stiletto, block, wedge, heelless, etc. I recently got a paycheck where I'm saving $90 USD and the rest is spending cash. I now have over $130 USD of spending. Should I go for it, they are $20 USD instead of $30.

Best regards,

Preston

Hi Preston, wow, you're not messing around about this heel thing! Those are some pretty ambitious shoes! I guess my question is, what type of image do you wish to project? I'm not one to criticize another person's style too much, but to me, these look like enormous bricks strapped to the model's admittedly rather attractive feet.

I am only vaguely aware of your situation, but perhaps it would be wise to go with something slightly less radical. Also, maybe you're a natural, but it's taken me three years and literally hundreds of miles and hours of wearing lower heels to be able to function normally in heels that high. Will you be able to walk in them? If so, I tip my hat to you.

As far as expanding your collection, I say go for it, if you've got the discretionary income, which you seem to have. You might do a search for Sbicca shoes on Amazon. They have some nice wedges which are not that expensive, if you find a model that is not current. Plus, they are real leather (or textile in some cases), they're durable, and they're made in the USA. They're very comfortable, also. In any case, good luck to you in your search.

Well - - your going for height, that's for sure. If you can wear them funtionally after a short time, go for it. I like the double decker tan model myself - not too obvious with the right jeans.

As I recall, you may not be kosher with mom yet. so be carefull.

Wow - saving at such early age, keep it up!

Buying shoes can be addictive as most women and many members here will attest.  As Mirosepant mentioned, it starts with the image you want to present (not that your restricted to one, but get one down pat first).  You don't have to buy all the shoes you want all at once and remember winter is coming and you will want to do the same thing with boots.

I wear stiletto heeled boots all the time, but I have been wearing them for years.  Once you are used to heels, stilettos are not too much of a challenge other than paying a lot of attention to the surfaces on which you walk (cracks, polished floors).  Get used to more supportive heels first then go for stilettos.

I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.

mlroseplant,

I'm not sure of the image that will be portrayed... As far as I'm concerned, I won't be taking these out at all. I will say this, I can walk fairly well in lita boots with five inch heel, I would assume that wearing wedges would be a bit easier, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Heelster,

Not going for height actually... I just liked the look of it, and wanted a pair of wedges, so it worked out. As of my mom, well, that's a given.

TBG,

Yes, I have over $1000 in my savings, I've been saving up for a car / bike recently. Otherwise the rest is in credit. but I can discretely pull money from the debit account for anything I want. And, I have no need for all the shoes at once, I just want to have wiggle room(3 is a magic number).

Thanks all for the replies,

Preston

Preston;

A rhyme by Thomas Tusser in Five Hundreth Pointes of Good Husbandrie, 1573:

A foole & his money,

be soone at debate:

which after with sorow,

repents him to late.

(A fool and his money are soon parted)

I repeat wearing heels and shoe buying can be addictive.  Set yourself a (small) budget for shoes.  You will see a pair that you really (REALLY) want that will exceed that budget.  Show fortitude and resist the temptation (and thank your Mom for keeping an eye on you}.

I have a lot of shoes that I would never even consider wearing out. I get what I like irregardless of look. So if you really want them and can afford them I would say, why not. :) I'm not really a wedge person but I like the ones you showed. I find walking on wedges more difficult than on normal heels though. They are a little more rigid I guess what makes it a little more difficult to me. But there are plenty people who don't agre with that I guess. ;-)

Wedges with a platform and double straps ........ how could you go wrong ? My opinion , you have a curiosity about wedges . Me , I would go on and get the wedges and see how I like them . They are fun shoes to wear and easy to walk in . Be sure to try different styles and materials like cork , wood or stacked leather wedge . Almost forgot make sure any platform shoe the sole rounds up ,under the toe ( like my avatar ) this makes walking so much easier . Good luck and enjoy !

Hey dude that is so cool, I noticed you are from Colorado so am I as I live in Aurora, Colorado. if you want to chat let me know I can give you my facebook.

I have to say cool go for it as they look really nice. I would buy them for me but right now I still live with my parents and I have not been able to get the confidence to tell them about my love for women's shoes. I actually love any type of women shoes that is open toe and look girly. I own 5 pair right now which 4 of them are flip flops and one is a pair of 4 1/2 inch high flower wedges. here is my flickr profile with a few pictures I have taken of myself wearing my shoes http://www.flickr.com/photos/mastersun/ out of the 5 shoes I have I own 3 pairs of flips flops which on my flickr I took a picture of myself wearing the beige one that have rhinestones on them. I have 2 flip flops that are made by yellow box here is a link to the black ones that I just bought recently a long with a white pair http://poshmark.com/listing/Yellow-box-black-wedge-flip-flops-558b3004a4a62c39ea00071d and here is the link to what the white ones look like http://poshmark.com/listing/Sold-in-bundle-53a726d63a3efc61b421399c I plan on buying more heels later on but right now I mostly have flip flops.

I don't know how much confidence you have in wearing your shoes in public or if you have already told your family about your love for women's shoes. I have been into Women's shoes since I was 13 I posted a story about how I got started right here if you want to read http://hhplace.org/topic/23310-what-should-i-do-i-need-some-beginner-advice/#entry346189

Anyway I still live with my parents and if you read my story you will understand how difficult it is to be open about this when it comes to wanting to tell your family but don't know how.

I noticed that most people here talk about heels but what about flip flops what do you think about wearing women's flip flops. I would never wear men's for the fact they are so ugly, plain and just make my feet look ugly. I am really into any women's shoe that looks really girly. I mostly like open toe heels and flip flops. For a guy I think I have really pretty feet and only want to show them off in women's open toe heels or flip flops.

If I was to buy these wedges I would pick them in red as red is my favorite color or I would get the ones that look kind of pink. they do look really nice.

Hello everyone,

Here is an update to what has been going on. I finally bought the shoes and they arrived about a week ago. I really enjoy them, per the height and being less of a sweat factory in the Colorado summer time.

I also recently got raised to being a checker instead of a courtesy clerk aka bagger. This is great because the pay is more and the customer actually care about your service more understandably. Otherwise it's hard learning those bloody produce codes, with the exception of a cheat sheet.

Last Thursday my mom got back from a monthlong trip to care for her sister who underwent back surgery. Unfortunately when she got back, the tension rose and I feel terrible about everything that I do(everyday life, money, school, friends, etc.) and honestly, it was better when just my dad was home. I did a lot more good things then bad without the added tension and pressure.

Happy reading,

Preston

Preston,

I don't know if you realize it, but there is an important lesson to be learned here. Your mother is (at least) partly the source of your stress. Now that you know that, you can select a variety of tools to deal with it, including avoidance, discussion, and counseling. I bet your dad has noticed the tension and pressure, too. Maybe your mother wants to exert her authority because she felt that being gone a month, you might learn to grow up a little and live without her hovering over you? I don't know all the details, but you you ought to talk to your dad, when you can get with him alone, and see what he thinks. Avoidance can be your best strategy. Spend more time away from home: library, playground, work, friends, and shoe shopping are activities that will get you out of your mother's presence a little more. Don't make it too obvious at first.

Good luck in dealing with this awkward situation.

Steve
