Taller Women.

I was going through IMDB looking for an actor and came across Lindsay Kay Haywads profile.

I didnt know whom she was. I thought ' some heavier set chick whom bleches her hair '. I was wrong.

I didnt realize shes 6 foot 8 !

I started looking at her pictures and said to myself ' damn.. her wardrobe is so limited ' and then I remembered how tall she was.

She wears a size 14 US Womens shoe. Outside of Pleaser jackstands, what else can she wear? Shes already tall, then toss on a pair of pleasers?

I looked at a few of her pics in pleasers next to other actresses and actors and it just looked so damn odd.

I then gave a thought to some of the Women I associate with or have relations of some kind with. My sister is 5-11. The woman whom works the register for us is 6-1. The woman at the local hair dresser is pushing 6 foot. Darian is 5-10 ( same height as myself ).

There are some tall women in these parts.

What do these women do for clothing? I see guys becoming upset that size 11 heels are limited and 12's arent readily in existence.. Imagine being that tall and trying to find just a classic pair of heels for a prom or formal occasion.

Hmm! I would imagine that such women would gravitate towards websites that sell clothing to taller women, such as:

I've read of some instances where tall women basically said "screw fashion" and shop in the men's department for clothes that fit properly. As for shoes, choices are even more restrictive, I've seen Zappos and Amazon offer shoes in 13 and 14, but they're either boring, "little old lady" church shoes or Pleaser fetish footwear. For tall women, or male heelers, it's a tough road to hoe.

Well, Jean Gaborit makes classy boots up to size 48 and Shoes of Prey in Australia makes heels up to a size 50, so there are two non-fetish, non old-lady possibilities straight away.

 

Anyone though, male or female, who is that far outside the norm for sizing is going to have a restricted range of clothing styles available to them. A friend of mine who has a teenage son who is somewhat taller than this lady, and with much bigger feet, has found clothes and shoe buy quite a chore.

My lady is quite a bit taller than me & when she was younger had the most terrible problems trying to get clothes to fit her. She ended up learning how to make her own clothes & is now a very skilled self-taught seamstress. (Some of her leather creations are just... Wow!)

 

She takes a UK 8 or 9 shoe, depending on the manufacturer, & back in the 1970's & 1980's couldn't get that much to fit her. She used to joke with her friends that the only way she was ever going to get a decent wardrobe was to marry a transvestite - She thought she'd died & gone to heaven when she met me, (but that's another story...!).

 

She says it's a lot easier these days to get ladies stuff in larger sizes, but it must be truly awful for someone like Lindsay Kay Hayward who is so much larger than 'the norm'. A lot of companies will make larger, bespoke items but also charge a hefty fee for doing so. You only have to look at some of the sites on the web that offer a custom shoe or boot making service...

 

I guess it's ok if you're earning quite a bit & can afford it, but if you're not that well off you're going to have problems - not everyone can afford to have nice things made for them & not everyone has the necessary skills to make their own clothes either.

 

Its a very awkward situation for some...

It is  a fact these days that both men and women are getting taller. In time clothing manufactures will see this trend and start making larger clothes  Was  less then 5 years that it was hard to find size 9uk women shoes in shops but shoes in that size are more common now.

My wife is taller than I am, by three inches or so, which is another great reason for me to wear heels!

 

She buys from the three sources JeffB mentioned above, and wears some really elegant clothes. Her shoe size, sadly is an 11N, whereas I am a 12M, so we don't share shoes. Darn!
