A Husband Needing Some Help....

Hi everyone,

I need some help please.

I'm thinking about Christmas gifts for my wife and have a dilemma.

So a little bit of history in a long story short fashion..... when I proposed to my wife on holiday in 2012 I also gave her a pair of Christian Louboutin heels. I have to say I found the process a little frustrating in as much as the sizes seem frequently a bit bigger or smaller and availability can be a bit challenging. Any way I plumped for a pair of Very Prive in a 39. When they arrived I had one of my wife's friends who borrows her shoes to try them for size. She said they'd be fine. So I gave them to my wife as planned and said be sure they fit before she removed the protective labels from the soles. She was sure. Within 24 hours she said they were loose. We've tried everything so we now have a sentimental pair of luxury shoes that live in the wardrobe. Sigh.... But never someone to thwarted at first base I'm back for more.

I'm thinking about buying my wife a pair of Bianca Botta Calf Boots but want to avoid a repeat whilst maintaining the surprise. Can anyone comment on how these fit please in terms of if you buy a size up or down. As a reference my wife takes a 5.5UK at Aldo and a 6UK at Kurt Geiger - what would be the best size for the boots? Any views on how tight they are around the calf would also be good to know.

Remember that this is a guide, and no two feet are the same. CL sizing depends on many factors, including width of feet, length of toes, smaller or larger size range, material, and personal preference (e.g., some prefer to buy shoes tight and stretch to fit, while others prefer to buy them looser and pad to fit).

It is completely normal for shoes to feel tight at first, especially in the toebox. For the most part, CL’s WILL stretch and break in with wear, but you may also try the sock trick or bring them to a cobbler to be professionally stretched.

I always avoid wearing on them outside or even on hard surfaces at home before I'm completely sure I'm going to keep them.

Fantastic resource chart for size charactoristics. As I have always been a bit cautious regarding ordering online, this chart will be of great assistance in attempting to 'get it right the first time'.

Couple questions.

Is this in UK size?

What does SSR mean.

In answer to your questions;

In your case True to Size (TTS) means that it is the same as your UK size. So a 4 = 37.5 in a TTS CL shoe.

SSR means small size range.

 

 

Ps, Marty don't forget that she may want to wear socks with them so Skin tight might not be the best idea.

Also FYI, CL calf sizes tend to be on the narrow size.

Great point and that is something that is concerning me. My wife's calf's are probably about average, she's not slight or on the larger side but I know some luxury footwear is not particularly generous for the 'average' lady - LK Bennett can be a bit that way in my experience. I think you're right about socks which might mean perhaps I go a half size up.

The question did you get them? Did they come from an authorised CL outlet? The reason I ask is because there are a lot of people selling fakes out there and genuine Loubies shouldn't (in theory) be a problem.

Dr Shoe is right. there are a lot of fakes out there. A close inspection of the stitching is the surest way to tell. Louboutin stitching will be strait, small and tight. Unmistakable. Another give away is that fake Louboutins almost always come with an "Authenticity card" and real ones never do.

Unfortunately I went to do the deed and they were out of stock. I'll keep checking back and fingers crossed will pick a pair up in time for Christmas. You're both absolutely right about authenticity. I would only buy online from the official CL store. I think some US department stores are official resellers and I believe Net-a-Porter.
